From the wilderness of the Boreal Forest, to the sighting of the Northern Lights, to the spectacular views of the Athabasca River to the amazing food truck scene, The Kamp Diaries RV Resort puts you near it all.

Out on the Water

The Athabasca River in the region is Alberta's longest river. The first 168 km originates in Jasper National Park and is designated as a Canadian Heritage River. The Athabasca region offers a watercraft experience like no other! From launching your boat for jet boating to canoeing, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding, there are ample water activities for everyone. Forfar Recreation Park, located on Long Lake, is a popular spot for thrill seekers to experience water skiing and tubing.

Into the Forest

Hiking in the Athabasca region is a class in itself, set in the mixed wood Boreal Forest of Alberta! Some of these picturesque trails are only minutes away from downtown Athabasca.

Within the limits of the Town of Athabasca, the Muskeg Creek Park trails run through the Muskeg Creek Valley and surrounding plateaus. A total of 17.5 km of trails are available for you to explore. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including deer, moose, coyotes, snowshoe hares, and the occasional bear.

The Athabasca Landing Trail is an historic trail, known today as Athabasca. The trail comprises part of the Trans Canada Trail and is being restored to its historic purpose. From Athabasca to Colinton, the trail is relatively flat and runs approximately 10 km.

The most iconic The Old Peace River Trail and adjacent to Athabasca River offers a spectacular wilderness area with majestic views of the Athabasca River. Moose, elk, deer, wolves, black bear and most boreal mammals are abundant. Bald eagles and other raptors make their permanent homes in the area. The 60 km trail is an historical wilderness trail through primal boreal forest and is ideal for ATV enthusiasts.
